Raising bold, confident communicators in your school
STRACS delivers LAMDA speech, drama and public-speaking programmes inside international schools in Uganda — built into the school day, examined by LAMDA, UK.
Speech & drama, built into your school day
STRACS, in association with LAMDA, offers Primary and Secondary school students speech and drama courses within each school's daily curriculum, delivered on the school premises. The programme is structured to run for the full academic year — starting in the September term and ending with examinations held between late May and early June, when each student is assessed by an examiner from LAMDA.
The curriculum covers voice and articulation exercises, an appreciation of English literary works, and introduces students to a broad spectrum of poets and authors — combining prose, poetry and public speaking with movement, relaxation, attentive listening, improvisation, narrative performance, character enactment and non-verbal communication.
Exams that reward expression, clarity and confidence
Candidates can take a range of LAMDA examinations, each focused on developing communication skills students carry for life:
These exams require consistent practice and suit students building developed communication skills. Every student receives a written report and certificate across three grades — and LAMDA qualifications count toward UCAS points and contribute to the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.
Confidence your students can perform, and keep
Drama and public-speaking activities build children's confidence through self-expression and public performance — with benefits that extend well beyond the stage.
Communication skills
Verbal and non-verbal expression, helping students share thoughts and emotions effectively and clearly.
Creativity & imagination
Developing characters, stories and scenarios fosters creative thinking that carries into every subject.
Empathy & perspective
Portraying diverse characters helps children understand different perspectives and emotions.
Teamwork & collaboration
Group activities promote cooperation and problem-solving skills students use during performance and beyond.
Problem-solving through performance
Drama encourages students to think critically and find solutions during performances and throughout the creative process — skills that transfer directly into the classroom and beyond it.
